We love solving problems and this month has been no exception. We have gone live with a school holiday club booking system for JC Academy who is well known for delivering fantastic after school and holiday club care for school children.

They came to us with a problem. Their existing ‘off the shelf’ booking system was difficult and time consuming for parents to use and for them to administer.

We sat down with our developer, Dan Lewis, and went through the system as both a parent and as an administrator looking at all the points in the process that were taking time and how they could be improved. Dan spends most of his time working on complex systems that are designed to make processes easier so had some great ideas on how a new system could be designed and built to be a lot more efficient and user-friendly.

Time was against us as the customer really wanted to launch the system in time for when the summer holiday bookings statred at the begging of June. So, we had to come up with a phased plan based on the lean project approach where we’d look at launching a minimum viable product first, in order to hit the deadline. Once live and taking bookings, we’d them work on the next phases to add extra functionally.

Within 6 weeks of starting, we had completed version one of the system and it was launched to the public. Over the next two weeks, we added further functionality to enhance the system. We’re now in phase three, focusing on enhanced reporting and management tools for the client.

I’m really proud of Dan, who started with us 4 years ago as an apprentice who hadn’t written a single line of code in his life. He’s now our leading developer writing amazing online software for clients like JC Academy.

The icing on the cake has been an email we received from the client who has given us permission to share it here….

“Good afternoon Rob and Dan

Just wanted to drop an email to you both to let you know how happy we have been with your service so far. We are so pleased with the system and the way its heading and your customer service as a whole.

Thank you for being so responsive to our questions, and being so patient with our demands!”
