Proven Marketing techniques that increase enquiries
Marketing Technique No 1
Now, this isn’t number 1 for a particular reason, so we aren’t giving weight to this technique over the others they are all unique and have their own benefits. Disclaimer over.
PAS Framework
We all know that we make purchases emotionally. This framework taps into that, creates feelings within your ideal customer and then entices them to find out more.
So what is PAS, well it’s an acronym for the following:
Pain
What problem is your target customer experiencing? By starting with their pain point you will instantly grab their attention. You should aim to evoke emotions such as frustration, anger, and disappointment.
Agitate
Make the pain worse, or as the old saying goes, rub salt in the wound. The intention is to really make them stop and focus on what you are saying briefly as it is so relevant to them.
Solution
Make them imagine a life without this problem, what would that look like, how would that make them feel. Then present your solution relating it to how it will solve the problem for them simply, with minimum effort. You should leave them feeling intrigued to find out more and relieved there is an answer to the problem they have been experiencing. Remember you are selling the benefits of what you offer NOT the features.
PLUS… Don’t forget to add your compelling call to action at the end!
This is a really popular copywriting/marketing framework that can help ensure your message gets across to your ideal customers and makes them want to find out more.
Marketing Framework No 2
Above the fold
Above the fold was previously a journalist’s phrase. Imagine a newspaper folded in half, the Big headlines and important information is always above the fold. It is the first information a reader sees and needs to be designed to grab their interest.
Nowadays this is equally relevant to your website, and any printed marketing material such as flyers, brochures etc. The messaging theory is the same, important information, interest-grabbing headlines and images need to come first.
Your Headline
Once again this isn’t the place to highlight the features of your product or service but it is where you highlight the key benefit that they will experience if they choose your business’s products or services.
Let’s imagine you sell a dog’s ball launcher. It’s cheap, recyclable, has a range of bright colours and comes with a ball. But, the benefits are different. Think… Your dog gets the fun workout they deserve and tires faster while you enjoy your relaxing walk in the park. This should be your Headline.
Subheading
Now you can describe your product in 1-2 sentences or 2-3 words. Highlight the features your customers are most interested in. For our ball launcher product example, you may choose. Lightweight, extendable, and recyclable, these demonstrate that it is easy to carry in your pocket and when it is no longer of use it can be recycled so your customer is doing their bit for the environment.
Show me
Not everyone will read your text, so get their interest straight away with an amazingly filmed short clip, image or graphic highlighting the benefits, showing your product in us etc.
Call to action
That all-important call to action is vital, don’t wait until the bottom of the page, tell your ideal customer exactly what to do next. Explain the next steps simply in no more than 3 points. This needs to be quick, simple and pain-free or you will have just lost a potential customer. If you offer a money-back guarantee, free trial, or some other incentive, here is the perfect place to promote it next to your call to action
In Summary
Both techniques are excellent ways to communicate your products and services to your ideal client in a way that connects with the challenges they face and the emotions they are experiencing. Shine light on a simple solution to solve those problems in a simple way and you have a customer ready to enquire and find out more.
Next time you are scrolling through a company website or looking at marketing material see who you can spot that is using these techniques, you may be surprised at how many companies are. It works for them, and it can work for you too.
